The simulation teaching software package for the course 'Power System Analysis' is developed based on STEPS (simulation toolkit for electrical power systems). It supports standard equipment models of power system analysis and is open source. The kernel of STEPS is coded with C++. A high-level module named 'stepspy' is provided with Python to simplify operations for students to study the power system analysis theory and programming implementation. The graphical user interface is developed to make the package easy to use. It has the functions of power system modeling, power flow calculation and dynamic simulation. Typical power system models such as the single machine infinite bus system are developed in STEPS. Some experiments of power flow calculation and transient analysis are designed based on the package. Those cases are applied to the teaching of power system analysis and help improve the teaching effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
