Treffer: GRAP--A LANGUAGE FOR TYPESETTING GRAPHS.
Weitere Informationen
Graphs are an excellent way to present many kinds of data, but are not used as often or as effectively as they might be because of the difficulty of including them as an integral part of the document preparation process, CRAP provides a tool for including graphs in typeset documents. It is also convenient for exploring data and for experimenting with alternative presentations. Its programmability makes it easy to create graphical styles that were not thought of in the original design, GRAP fits in smoothly with both document preparation programs and other tools in the Unix programming environment. Implementing a program as a "compiler" for a "little language" is often a useful strategy. A language gives users a concise specification of how to use the program, provides an organizing framework for implementation, and often enables the implementor to use tools to build the program. CRAP itself is a language; it creates output for PIC, another such language: and it has served as the output of even simpler and more specialized languages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
