The authors generalize the quasi-classical approximation to obtain everywhere differentiable approximations, in terms of elementary functions, of the Bessel functions \(J_\nu(x)\) and of the Neumann functions \(N_\nu(x)\). The functions contained in these approximate expressions and their derivatives are continuous at the point \(x=\nu\).
