Summary: We consider the problem of the computational modelling of the geological structure of an oil-field and the simulation of the oil-extraction process. The paper describes a mathematical model of the non-steady displacement of a non-Newtonian oil by water in an essentially inhomogeneous bed. We present an algorithms for the numerical analysis of the corresponding boundary-value problems. The properties of the model have been implemented in a user-friendly software. The capabilities of the software are illustrated through the calculation of several typical problems of oil-displacement by water.
