प्रस्तुत लेख अनुसन्धानको महत्त्वपूर्ण पक्षका रूपमा चिनिने पूर्वकार्य समीक्षाको सैद्धान्तिक पक्षका बारेमा चर्चा गर्दै यसका केही नमुनाहरू प्रस्तुत गर्ने उद्देश्यले तयार पारिएको हो । यो लेख भाषा, साहित्यका क्षेत्रमा गरिने गुणात्मक अनुसन्धानमा केन्द्रित छ । यसमा खासगरी पूर्वकार्य समीक्षाको परिचय, यसको आवश्यकता वा प्रयोजन, समीक्षाका चरणहरू, समीक्षा लेखनका विधिका बारेमा स्पष्ट पारिएको छ । यसले अनुसन्धानलाई औचित्यपूर्ण बनाउन सहयोग गर्दछ । पूर्वकार्यको समीक्षामा मूलतः अनुसन्धान क्षेत्र र समस्यासँग सम्बन्धित साहित्यको पुनरावलोकन गरिन्छ । यो समस्याकथन र उद्देश्य निर्धारणमा सहयोगी बन्दछ । कुनै पनि अनुसन्धान विशिष्ट प्राज्ञिक जिज्ञासा वा समस्यामा आधारित हुन्छन् र ती समस्यासँग आंशिक वा पूर्ण रूपले सम्बन्धित भएर त्यसअघि कुनै न कुनै किसिमका कार्य गरिएका हुन्छन् । तिनै कार्यको समीक्षा गर्नुलाई पूर्वकार्यको समीक्षा भनिन्छ । यहाँ पूर्वकार्य समीक्षा लेखनका परम्परित र नवीन विधिका बारेमा चर्चा गर्दै अन्त्यमा समग्र लेखको निष्कर्ष प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । {The present paper aims to formulate theoretical frameworks for a literature review, which is an essential component of research. This paper has focused on qualitative research in the areas of language and literature. It has dealt with writing the introduction of literature review, its implications and use, stages of literature review, and methods of writing literature reviews. This study will help researchers to make their research significant. Past studies review the research domain and issues of related literature. Thus, literature review becomes helpful to formulate the statement of the problem and the objectives. Research depends on research question or issue, which is related to the previous studies whether it is partial or full. Therefore, any studies conducted before the actual research takes place is called literature review. This paper discusses the traditional as well as new metods of writing literature reviews with its overall conclusion.}
