This paper discusses how Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methods were used to support a Danish company in its efforts to become more of a ‘learning organisation’, characterized by sharing of knowledge and experiences. One of the central barriers to organisational learning in this company involved a lack of understanding for the work processes from one shift to another, and across departments. Through facilitated workshops focusing on problem-analysis and development of solutions, members of the organisation gained a greater understanding of the need for learning, as well as an increased motivation for sharing of experiences across organisational boundaries. The case also emphasises the importance of management involvement and support when attempting to develop a learning environment.
