Introduction: In the current educational landscape, the integration of digital skills and the encouragement of critical thinking are essential for the academic and professional advancement of university students. The general objective of this research was to analyze the perceptions of students at a private university in Lima regarding the link between digital skills and the development of critical thinking. Materials and methods: The approach was qualitative; the design was grounded theory; the technique was a focus group; and the instrument was a 12-question interview guide. The sample consisted of 11 students. Results: The results take into account the general and specific objectives, concluding that there is a link between digital skills, with their subcategories of computerization and information literacy, digital communication and collaboration, and computer risks. Discussion: The category of critical thinking, with its subcategories of argumentation, decision-making, problem-solving, and characteristics of the critical thinker. Conclusions: The data reveal that the reflective exercise teachers should encourage in their students consists of preparing them to manage the abundant information available in the virtual world, nuanced by the internet. Furthermore, acquiring good technological skills will help differentiate relevant information from irrelevant information, or distinguish unsupported information that seeks to mislead. Regarding computer security, participants were unaware that excessive use of social media, exposing personal or family data, puts their integrity at risk by exposing it not only to anyone who visits the profile, but also to anyone who visits the profile. ; Introducción: En el actual escenario educativo, la integración de competencias digitales y el estímulo al pensamiento crítico son esenciales para el avance académico y profesional de estudiantes universitarios.
