2020409030004 ; 工工系 ; The bill-of-materials (BOM) represents key information in a manufacturing system. Most of the information relevant to products and their components is described in this document. The information is critically related to data from product design, manufacturing planning, production, procurement, inventory control, and accounting within the organization. A conventional BOM structure, which only manages data in a relational database management style, cannot satisfy the needs requested by all departments within a company. A BOM should relate and communicate with other domains of information system. Thus, a newly designed BOM system uses the object-oriented programming (OOP) concept to dynamically represent product information. The object-oriented BOM (OOBOM) system can capture and encapsulate data that will simultaneously satisfy the information needs of various departments. Furthermore, the system provides several interfaces for easy data access and manipulation. This product management approach guarantees the consistency and efficiency of BOM data representation
