This article aims to present the use of a Linux server, using Samba and RSync, as a tool for strategic information technology management, with an emphasis on user control, efficient file sharing, and data backup in public institutions. This is applied research, supported by a bibliographic review of recent sources on the topic, including books, scientific articles, and contributions from well-known free software organizations. The study seeks to identify the strategic advantages of implementing a Linux server with Samba and RSync, emphasizing its potential to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen information security, aligned with the pursuit of continuous improvement. Furthermore, the article discusses the importance of strategic planning to ensure successful implementation that aligns with institutional IT objectives, incorporating the Design Thinking approach and the agile Kanban methodology.To validate the findings of the theoretical analysis, a case study was conducted in a public institution, referred to as 'Institution X', where the Linux server was implemented. The study analyzes the impacts of this implementation on both the operational and strategic dimensions of information management, reaching the conclusion that the adoption of this solution has had a positive impact, bringing significant improvements in data centralization and control, efficient automation of backup routines, reduction of operational costs, and increased information security. ; Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar o uso do Servidor Linux, com os programas Samba e RSync, como ferramenta de Gestão Estratégica de Tecnologia da Informação, com ênfase no controle de usuários, compartilhamento eficiente de arquivos e cópia de segurança em instituições públicas.
