Further Information

The purpose of this project is to develop an application to streamline the process of engineers and students when it comes to selecting the most suitable component for their projects, be it gears, bearings, nuts or bolts. This is done by turning catalogues from various companies and compiling into a single database. In the case of gears, users will enter operational parameters (i.e. power and RPM) in addition to the conventional gear parameters (i.e. diameter and width). The application will calculate the parameter (i.e. torque). A list of all possible choices is generated for users to make their selection. A demonstration system for engineering components of gears is successfully implemented using Python at the end and allows users select gear types, input parameters and generate a table of possible choices. ; Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
