Further Information

Computer simulations of hard-particle models of liquid crystals have been employed to study phase behaviour and structure both in the bulk system and in confined geometries. These may be compared with the well-known Onsager theory of the isotropic-nematic transition, and improvements thereof. This paper presents recent results in this area.
