The consolidation of Document Management is based not on the contents of these documents but rather on the refinement of workflow management and classification techniques. Since the documentation will then reflect changes in plant configuration, there will be only up-to-date information available to the users. The author presents an implementation model for such consolidation projects. The interdependancy of documentation und life cycle phases is shown and facilitators are introduced, by means of which projects may be structured. The results are valid both for conventional organisation as well as for use with Document Management System.
