We have developed an information filter for use with USENET News which routes trough to a user those articles which are deemed to be of interest to him/her based on progressive monitoring of that user's previously observed preferences. Over time, the filter adapts so as to accomodate a use's changing interest. This is accomplished by constructing a user profile from previous messages known to be relevant to the user and modifying the structure of this profile as a result of relevance feedback provides by the user.
