The work reported in this paper is supported by LRE program under contract LRE CRISTAL 62-059 and developed by the Consortium: Cap Gemini Innovation, Cap Volmac, UMIST, ILC-Pisa, Memlodata, L'Européenne de Données. The idea of concept-based information retrieval is to provide access to textual information by matching the query and the text concepts ra(ther than by matching words to words. Thsi porject involves the integration of linguistics methods and information retrieval techniques. The starting query entries are automatically replaced by equivalent concepts and transformed in order to retreive related documents. The project combines a multilingual (French, English and Italian) interface and search and retrieval technologies. It takes into account fee language queries, i.e access through naural language sentences, noun phrases or compunds to french texts.
