Currently the knowledge worker is drowning in a sea of unprocessed and/or unorganized information and data. Yet the fast pace of technological development makes it possible for us to deliver quick and instant access to needed multimedia information globally, if only appropriate efforts can be directed toward a healthy and effective conceptual planning of such a global knowledge base, and the actual creation of the digital information resources to be linked in this base. In the last ten years, PROJECT EMPEROR -I, which started as an interactive videodisc project, has moved toward the provision of multimedia solutions. This paper provides a brief overview of some of the major project products evolved in recent years, and offers a brief discussion of some of the most recent R&G experiences in using object-oriented paradigms for representing an information structure, that can amplify its utility by allowing the information to be visualized via digital images and videos and interpreted in many different ways.
