Treffer: Informatizacion del fondo de publicaciones periodicas del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (C.S.I.C.)--desarrollo y experiencias (Historical development of computerized processing of periodicals collections in Spain)

The paper deals with the historic development of the computerized processing of the collections of periodicals existing in the different libraries of the Spanish Research Council (C.S.I.C.), the first aim being the edition of the corresponding 'collective catalogue.' The authors have divided the exposition into 3 chapters dealing respectively with: 1. The antecedents of the project, mentioning previous experiences made with processes of this kind and similar tasks yet performed. The model of processing developed for the seizure of documentary data is also referred to. 2. The building up of the data base, describing the sequence of the process used for data updating and 3. The edition of the catalog in which the logic prepared for this application is described, giving a detailed description of the various phases of the information chain which in the final stage leads to the printing of the edition matrix as the starting-point for reprographical processing.
